This weekend we ventured down to London to Borough Market, I haven’t been before, so I wasn’t too sure what to expect but it definitely did not disappoint.

We arrived fairly early so our first port of call was The Ginger Pig (I’d read so many great things online about their sausage rolls, it would have been rude not to pay them a visit!) we shared a classic sausage roll which was piping hot, much to our delight as London was FREEZING, the sausage meat was perfectly seasoned and the pastry crisp and buttery – an easy 9/10 from us for sure.

The market is full of independents selling everything from spices to cheese and as you walk around there’s lots of samples to taste & smell! We had a spoonful of a delicious spelt mushroom risotto (pictured below!) from Turnips – they’re a fruit and veg wholesaler selling high quality fruit and veg from independent producers across Britain, they also have a restaurant which has been a fixture at Borough Market for over 30 years!

Next stop (& potentially the most anticipated!) was The Black Pig, I’d had my eye on these guys before we arrived, and I could not wait to try their sandwiches… it was hands down THE best sandwich I’ve ever had. We shared the Honey Truffle Parmesan sandwich which was filled with slow roasted pork shoulder with honey truffle Mayo, fennel apple slaw, chilli & 30mo aged parmesan 🤤🤤🤤 I already cannot wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!

Last but by no means least we stopped off at Rudies Jerk Shack and ordered the Curried Goat with Slaw and chilli sauce and WOW it was jam packed with flavour, if you’re not into your spice this might not be for you as it was quite spicy, but unbelievable none the less.
