WHAT a gorgeous gorgeous evening we had last night @dialhousebourton  I was kindly invited down to their wine tasting event which took place in their new garden tipi – Maxi’s. Maxi’s is now a permenent fixture in the garden serving drinks and sharing plates of food – last night was the first of many exciting events which will be taking place in the tipi, and it did not dissapoint.

The event was hosted by @fcpwines – they did a fabulous job of educating us about each wine we drank throughout the night, we all came away having learnt something really fascinating about the wine industry.

Upon arrival we were greeted with a glass of fizz before we took our seats to begin the five course tasting menu, each course was paired with a glass of white.

SO the bit you’ve all been waiting for, here’s what we ate/drank:

Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Extra Dry, Drusian, Italy NVPaired with:Gravadlax of Salmon, Citrus Dressing, Blini/ Mushroom Truffle Fritter

 Followed by:

Sauvignon Blanc, Matahiwi New Zealand, 2021Paired with:Poached Seatrout, Lambs Lettuce/ Heritage Tomato Salad, Olive Croutons

Chenin Blanc, Afrikan Ridge, Breedekloofv Region, South Africa, 2020Paired with:Chicken, Bubble & Squeek, Café au Lait

The White Viognier, Viognier, Guillame Aurele, France 2020Paired with:Escabeche of Red Mullet, Cous Cous/ Vegetable Gyozas, Soy Dressing

Gewurztraminer, Bergsig Estate,  2017Paired with:Pan Roasted Ras El Hanout Pork Tenderloin Glazed in Truffle Oil, Baby Pak Choi and a Light Spiced Jus

The stand out dishes for me had to be the final course, the pork and the vegetable gyoza. The Chenin Blanc was absoloutley divine, not a wine I’ve drank much of prior to this but I will definitely be purchasing in the future. @dialhousebourton house are planning lots of exciting events so give them a follow to keep up to date with those and in the meantime if you’re in Bourton On The Water you should definintely pop into Maxi’s for a drink and a bite to eat, its a lovely setting for summer evening drinks with friends.
